Bringing the Elands Valley Together: A Morning of Connection at Ntsinini

Good company, shared ideas and a common goal: putting the Elands Valley on the map.

There's something special about a community coming together with a shared vision, especially when that vision is to celebrate and strengthen the place we call home.

With the recent opening of a tourism hub at the Heritage Tourism Centre in Waterval Boven, there's a renewed sense of enthusiasm for promoting the Elands Valley and everything this beautiful corner of Mpumalanga has to offer.

And what better way to build connections than around a table, sharing good food and conversation?

A Warm Welcome at Bushwillow

In early October, Ntsinini hosted a gathering on the veranda of Bushwillow Cottage, bringing together members of the Ladies of the Valley social group, local accommodation and tourism hosts, and representatives involved in establishing the Heritage Tourism Centre.

The occasion was an opportunity to connect, exchange ideas and introduce more people to Ntsinini.

Guests contributed to the colourful table décor and delicious food, while the Ntsinini team prepared a kebab braai accompanied by salads. With everyone lending a hand, the veranda was soon filled with conversation, laughter and a wonderful sense of community.

For many of those attending, this was their very first visit to Ntsinini, offering an opportunity to discover the farm, its accommodation and the natural beauty of the surrounding reserve.

Stronger Together: A Shared Vision for Tourism

Beyond the lovely setting and good company, the gathering sparked some encouraging conversations about the future of tourism in the region.

One of the key topics was how local accommodation providers and tourism businesses could work more closely together, sharing enquiries, supporting one another and helping visitors discover more of what the Elands Valley offers.

The newly established tourism hub at the Heritage Tourism Centre presents an exciting opportunity to connect visitors with accommodation and experiences throughout the area.

There was also discussion around establishing a more formal network of accommodation providers, creating a collective voice to engage with regional tourism organisations and advocate for greater support and development.

The thinking is simple: by working together, local businesses have a stronger opportunity to promote the region and improve the overall visitor experience.

Celebrating the Elands Valley

The Elands Valley has so much to offer, from dramatic mountain scenery and outdoor adventures to peaceful country retreats and the character of its small towns.

Waterval Boven, also known as Emgwenya, forms an important part of this landscape, and the growing collaboration between local tourism businesses is an encouraging step towards showcasing the area's potential.

At Ntsinini, we're fortunate to be surrounded by some of Mpumalanga's most beautiful wilderness, and we're equally proud to be part of a community passionate about sharing this special region with others.

Here's to New Connections

The gathering at Bushwillow was a wonderful reminder that meaningful progress often begins with something as simple as getting people around a table.

While these initiatives are still developing, the enthusiasm, willingness to collaborate and shared commitment to the Elands Valley are certainly reasons to feel optimistic.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us, contributed to the occasion and shared their ideas.

Here's to stronger connections, new opportunities and a bright future for tourism in the Elands Valley.
